Wuhan virus deaths overtake SARS in China:In a matter of weeks, the number of coronavirus deaths in mainland China has overtaken the 2003 SARS epidemic in the country. Since its outbreak in December, more than 360 people have died of the disease in China, compared to 349 deaths from SARS over a nine-month period. The virus has been confirmed in more than 25 countries and territories since it was first detected in the Chinese city of Wuhan in December.

Race to contain: Nearly 60 million people remain under lockdown in Chinese cities as international researchers race to develop a vaccine and halt its spread.
