The two most powerful people in Washington -- Donald Trump and Nancy Pelosi -- will meet for the first time as President and speaker Friday during a midmorning White House meeting in what looks like a futile attempt to end a government shutdownas it hits the two-week mark.
The encounter will occur in wider talks involving congressional leaders on the second day of divided government in the Trump administration. There is every chance that things will not go well.
